Due to a few health-related diagnoses that have excluded her from becoming a pilot, Shelby’s future in aviation will be different than she first envisioned. While the news that she wouldn’t be able to pilot planes initially left her heartbroken, her mom encouraged her to keep going.

Trey Geboy has had a passion for flight since he was a child. As a young boy, Trey’s dad would take him to the Newnan Airport as a reward for good behavior. Trey has been a member of the Candler Field Youth Aviation Program since he was a freshman in high school.

The Hank Sasser Foundation is proud to announce its 2017 Youth Aviation Scholarship recipient. This scholarship was established to recognize a member of the Candler Field Museum Youth Aviation Program working towards higher education. We aim to provide an opportunity for our scholars to pursue an education and develop their individual and organizational leadership skills. This year, we were able to award $1,500 in scholarship award money.
